SISTERS OF ST. FRANCIS OF THE HOLY CROSS

The Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross are praising the awesome Goodness of God’s Spirit present at its General Chapter held in June. These gatherings, held every four years, address issues relevant to their lives and ministry. Following four years of research, study, and dialogue by a small committee addressing vocation ministry, the broader Community entered into a year-long discernment process to consider revising the present charism statement to more closely reflect today’s realities. A unanimous decision of approval was given to the revised statement:
As Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, our lives in community are rooted in the Cross, Word, and Eucharist. Guided by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, we compassionately respond to the needs of our times through prayer, presence, and hospitality.
The Sisters are just beginning to unpack the depth of meaning in this statement, inviting personal conversion, producing rich fruit.
On Thursday, July 6 and again on August 3, the Sisters will host “Silence and Sunset” an evening to step away from a noisy world and into a prayerful setting. It begins at 6:30pm with a gathering prayer in Chapel , moves into a personal, silent time to read, journal, walk the beautiful paths, participate in an art activity, or speak one-on-one with a Sister, and concludes with a prayerful gaze at Brother Sun as it sets. It is free, rain or shine.
July is a transition month for the Sisters. Some are making their annual retreat, some are vacationing, others are transitioning in residence and ministry.
